Environmental “Nutrition” from Timberland

MediaPost reported in a study that Americans are skeptical of companies who advertise their products as environmentally-friendly, feeling its just a marketing tactic. But many companies are taking it seriously and are genuinely committed. While looking around on trendwatching.com I saw a post about footwear manufacturer Timberland. They are now placing a “nutritional label” on each shoebox, educating consumers about the product they are purchasing, including where it was manufactured, how it was produced and what effect it has on the environment. Messaging inside the box asks customers “what kind of footprint will you leave?” and provides a call to action for them after purchase. I think its great that as consumers we can get more information such as this to make choices we feel are important.
