The changing look of websites

The proliferation of blogs and their style is really influencing website design to be a little more fluid and freeform. Spend some time browsing around and you’ll see what’s popular now: pencil sketches, handwritten fonts, designs that utilize the “white space” or have no border, graphics such as paper clips, sticky notes and embellishments (sort of reminds me of my scrapbooking), collage, grunge, splatter ink (we used this one on our site) and retro, which seems to never go out of style. Here are some good examples of a few of these styles.

Handwritten features, freeform design, video, flash, collage and so much more! Nicely done.

Use of background space, sticky notes, handwritten elements and grunge…at a church! Good for them for paying attention to what makes the Internet relevant and effective these days and using it.

Background, collage, broken borders, paper elements. Check out the road tools page, nice layout and lots of tools. This is an engaging tourism site with lots of tools that is still easy to look at and move around in.
